Prayers Around the Globe
2014 - 2024
Prayer has been the heartbeat of human existence since the beginning of time. Long before we had names for the divine, we sought the sacred in the silence of caves, the expanse of open fields, and under the stars.
Over the centuries, we have given this invisible act a physical home. We have lifted heavy tree trunks, stacked stones and sun-dried bricks, and nailed in wooden panels to create dedicated structures for our devotion.
This project is a collection of selected hand-drawn works from a personal ten-year journey through these sacred spaces, mapped chronologically to reveal a timeline of human devotion across time and place. Some in mountains, among trees, others among bustling streets each reflects a moment in the past and a time to come.
But ultimately, this is not a study of institutions. While these physical locations exist as beautiful markers of our history, they serve to remind us of a deeper truth: that the structures are merely the shell. The act itself is boundless. Prayer began without walls, and it remains something that can happen anywhere.
